The Darkside is a performance shortboard designed in conjunction with Stab In Dark. Taking features from the BlakCat and the Black Noiz, the Darkside is a modern day, traditional high performance design that gives more sensitivity to the surfer and the ability to carve the board in more crucial parts of the wave.
The uniqueness in the design is that it will allow the board to feel shorter and sharper in transition e.g. riding a 6’0” will feel more like a 5’10”. This will allow the board to carry a longer rail line, yet keep the carves powerful and tight. In line with modern day shortboard trends, Darkside carries features of a step-down, but with a traditional late 90’s/early 2000’s performance shortboard design.
The design and positioning of the rocker provides a positive reaction and extra forgiveness under your front foot, whilst eliminating rail catch. With a medium balanced black third of the outline, the rocker will create a strong sensitivity and deliver more drive into your turns.
The concave sets a bond between the longer rail line and forgiving rocker. Based off our performance shortboards, the board has a slight entry single that transitions into a clean extended double through the back half of the board. With a smooth transition, the slight hip in the tail will open the range of pivot to give the board drive through the tighter sections of the wave.
The darkside has been put through a rigorous testing cycle with our Haydenshapes team, Dane Reynolds in Stab in the Dark and Taj Burrow in the ASL Board Test. The board was received with incredible response and feedback, it was an easy decision to add it to our Haydenshapes range.
With a continuous curve and performance contours, the board will fit into tighter areas of the wave, whilst still generating enough speed for an approaching section, or down the line transitions. The Darkside rides best in waves from 2-6ft (waist to head high and a half)
Fins not included.
